Through culturally appropriate community-based service, The Elite Striders Drill Team & Drum Corps Positive Youth Organization will nurture the lives of at-risk children in Lake County, Illinois. We promote civic leadership, character and community building, education, discipline, morals and values, and performing arts. It is our commitment to empower the members of this organization with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve at their fullest potential
MEET OUR DIRECTOR
We adhere to six core principles: accountability, confidence, discipline, integrity, leadership and respect—our guiding framework. These principles enable us to maintain focus and foster a positive environment. Commitment to these values is essential to our success.
Sameia Charity grew up in North Chicago, Illinois. She has always had the passion for the local drill and dance teams. In 1992-1996, Sameia was in the North Chicago Hi-Steppers Drill Team under the Direction of Mrs. Dorothy Lewis. From 1999-2012, she was the Co-Director of The Jazz Steppers Drill Team & Drum Corp with Mr. Troy Grooms. In 2010, Sameia decided to go back to school finishing up with a Master’s in Humans Service (Executive Leadership) from Liberty University. As she was finishing her degree, she founded the Elite Striders Drill Team & Drum Corp in January 2014.
She named it Elite because she wanted her team to know how great they were. She wanted to create a program that was more than the average dance group. She wanted structure, discipline, volunteer service, and then the performing arts. She implemented 6 core principles which are: Accountability, Confidence, Discipline, Integrity, Leadership, & Respect. “My goal is to make these young people great human beings.” Her future intentions are to create a performing arts program that also focuses on youth civic ship, violence prevention, education, amongst other important issues young people face these days. Sameia is working on creating more programing for the children of Lake County.
